I used to lean pretty naturally, thinking that everything in nature was naturally the best. Natural living; natural birthing–these things made sense to me. Humanity had been doing them for millennia. Who was I to question them?
I don’t know why I never made the connection, before. I don’t know why I never realized that nature wasn’t perfect. I don’t know why I never thought about the rates of infant mortality in previous generations, or even the average age or lifespan. The thing is, these things are ALL natural.
And nature, unfortunately, is pretty darn deadly.
The most biologically normal thing in the world is death.
