When I was getting ready to leave the hospital, the midwife asked me where I got my necklace. I almost laughed. It felt strange to say it was a replica from one on the Vampire Diaries. It felt strange to talk about something so “normal.”
I had that necklace remade in silver when I was deployed. They did well with it. It looked exactly the same. I remember so many things about that deployment. It was hard, but it was worth it. Even now, everything was worth it. I will never regret anything I did to prepare for you.
