Social Media & Grief

Social media may have a bad reputation, but it’s helped me in my grief

Miranda's Blog

I have a not-so-secret secret. My secret is that social media is an important part of my life…And I’m okay with that.

I’m okay with it, because I’ve met some of the kindest people here.

I’m okay with it, because it has allowed me to make connections with others who truly understand.

I’m okay with it, because when I post about some of the “strangest” things I’ve done in the name of grief, instead of judgment, I hear: me too. And that ‘me too’ is invaluable to me.

People complain sometimes about the downsides of social media, and I won’t deny they exist. Like any tool, it can be bad or it can be good. And like most tools, it’s usually somewhere in between.

But overall, it’s been an important tool for me. Thank you for following along on my journey.

I don’t find meaning in my son’s death. I find meaning in how I honor him after his death.
